#54

As threatened last time it's the other ( 2nd ) version of Average Inadequacy from Machinations today, this time after they'd signed to White ( Mushroom ), produced for the 2nd time by Lobby Lloyde though a much chunkier/cheesier vers than the original Phantom release.

Afterwards it's The Jam and this song always makes me laugh because in the block of flats I used to live in about 10 years ago some un-named fellow resident ( clearly enamoured of Mr Weller's songwriting ) had typed out the lyrics to That's Entertainment and stuck them up on the noticeboard in the foyer, where they remained for quite some time. Obviously the excied resident thought we should all know what the song said. ( 63 Curlewis St Bondi for the record ) ( for all I know it could still be there !! )

The Right Stuff were from Leeds and the sticker on the cover from the shop I got it from says "Wonderful ! Brilliant ! Superb UK Guitar Pop". At the time ( somewhere between 1987 & 1988 ) I remembered thinking it was Ok but as it was THE era for jangly stuff I had so many other records/songs that could fit this bill this song fell by the wayside. Hearing it again today I was more impressed than I was back then, with it's definite strains of The Bodines and faint relations to Echo...maybe the sticker is right.

An interesting duo of Robert Lloyd and Martin Rushent are behind the Fizzbox single, then we're back to The Hummingbirds, with what was from memory their last Phantom release and a b-side from The Black Cillas ( the 'a' being Sebastian, which is on the Lemaington Spa 4 comp )

enjoy :)

Thanks for another enjoyable post - some more great stuff to listen to on the train on the way to work.
I haven't heard Fuzzbox for a long time, I used to share a house in the mid 80s with a guy who was mad on them (and all the other girl bands of the time).

Cheers

yeah, I know where you're coming from, I do the public transport trudge myself, so glad I can contribute !!

Only ever had 2 Fuzzbox singles, a mate had the album and another 12, I wasn't that fussed on them ( or Fuzzed as the bad pun may be ), they seemed to em to be a bit more "upmarket" and even manufactured than others.
