#68

More Rabbits Wedding today ( which suits me ), in fact the b-side of the Distant Violins issue of Rideout, playing the flip side today cos the a-side already featured on #56, ( where I had a little rave on about the song Rideout anyway ). But not a prob as "Someone As" is a great song too. I went for a more "up" track from the Orchids 3 -tracker, the other 2 songs a bit slow and drugged...then some Morrow siblings power pop from Sydney band The Numbers, who have a pretty good representation on this blog - as have Jesse Garon & The Desperadoes ( who feature today with their second effort on Narodnik ). Moving Parts were also a Sydney band and "How Could I" is from a 3-track ep that pre-dates the great "Living China Doll" single heard on #1. Following that Mr Weller and Co are along bemoaning "Number 10" ( fair call ) and then we're off back in time to 1960 with a teary little ( true ) tale from Johhny Ashcrof about a young Aussie lad ( 'of just 4 summers' ) Steven Walls who got lost on his parent's property in outback NSW - and I'll let Wikipedia take up the story here -

....at Tubbamurra near Guyra, NSW. Five thousand people, seven aircraft, together with Aboriginal tracker William Stanley, searched the rugged bush country, which was rife with dingos and deadly snakes. He was found alive and well four days later. The search for the Little Boy Lost continues to be Australia's biggest.

After which we hear from Sydney 4-piece Gulf Klub ("India" probably really the b-side of "What's Cooking", but I more remember the song India as a demo being played on 2SER-FM at the time ), then the Gobs front up ( yet again ) and we end with the ( Sydney band ) Popular Mechanics from their "From Here To Obscurity" 4 track Ep.
